Best Winter Surf Beaches in Cornwall

Fistral Beach – Newquay

One of Cornwall’s most iconic surf beaches, Fistral has excellent exposure to the Atlantic swell. Conditions are more serious in winter than in the summer months — think stronger waves and colder water — so it’s best suited to intermediate and experienced surfers.

Fistral also has cosy cafés and convenient car parks, making it ideal for spending a winter’s day in the surf. Thanks to its popularity — even in the colder months — it can still get busy, so early mornings are recommended if you want some quieter board time.

Watergate Bay – near Newquay
